The Supreme Court on Friday permitted the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to carry out a non-invasive scientific survey of Gyanvapi mosque in Varanasi using photography, GPR survey and radar imaging technology after the ASI assured the court that “no damage to the wall or structure” would be caused during the examination to be conducted in response to the plea of Hindu worshippers who have maintained that the mosque was constructed on the site of the iconic Kashi Vishwanath temple.
